Logline
"A hunched, distorted figure traverses the busy streets in the city of neon lights looming buildings at night. As it takes notice of a bird, it follows it's path out of the city into a lush green forest, which reveals the figure's true nature."

Synopsis
Our story is based on a character that shows two aspects of city life and nature. The character is distorted and hunched; a physique different from everybody else and is the only 3D character. They are made of a fragile crystal/glass material and as they traverse the streets of the city at night, they are overwhelmed and distracted by the busyness and overload of visual stimulus in the city, but the call of a bird in the sky keeps them on track to travel out of the city into the forest. As the character reaches the forest they are consumed by vines and flowers and it breaks them of their crystal form and returns them to their true form – a 2D form of the same style as the characters in the city. The bird returns to its flock in the forest.

Director's Statement
'Transfigure' was produced from just a range of ideas and imaginations. We pretty much had our final idea quite early enough and already started getting some inspirations and character designs. Our main character designer and concept artist nailed it with the character designs and concept art that we loved. We didn't have a lot of characters designs especially for the 3d main character as we had a specific style we were going for and our character designer, designed it really well. We also got a rough storyboard done to give us an idea of what is going on in the animation and we got a revised version done later on. In our designing process, we got style frames, background art and background characters done as well as the 2d version of our main character when the character transforms in the forest.
During the production of our animation, we got all 3d animation done for the 3d character to combine with backgrounds for each scene. We also got background designs done and 2d animations and we did some compositions where we put together the 3d character animation with the 2d background to make them a complete animation, referring to the storyboard. We then edited the whole animation, cutting out bits we found unneeded or unpleasant and added in a title, music and credits. We made quite a lot of changes to the first version of our animation produced because we discovered some faults and fixed what didn't look right, for example, changing the title design, the credits and changed a scene that includes a bird in the sky. We finally got a final version of our animation after making a lot of changes and got it out and ready for people to watch.
